Kirk Newman Art School Hands On Event 2024

Thinking of taking a class at the KIA? Want to make, take, and experience a range of creative projects all in the same night? Join us on Friday, March 8, from 6 to 9pm for Hands On, a fun, fast-paced art making evening!

Bring friends and create a ceramic cup or raku fired vessel, hand print a tea towel, weld metal garden art piece, and more. More than 15 different projects available.

Admission to the event and some projects are free. Other projects require a nominal ticket ($2-$25 purchased at the door) to cover the cost of materials.

Projects include:

  • Three 10-minute micro yoga sessions at 6-6:10pm, 6:30-6:40pm, or 7-7:10pm

  • Indigo dyed tote bags, scrunchies, and bandanas

  • Weaving and spinning demonstrations

  • Photograms on postcard paper

  • Welded metal garden stakes and wall art

  • Raku fired ceramic vessels

  • Ceramic cup handbuilding in clay

  • Metal plant stakes and keychains

  • Metal jewelry pendants

  • 5” x 7” abstract painting on canvas

  • Drop in still life drawing sessions

  • Printmaking on fabric tea towels

  • Handprinted greeting cards

  • Children’s plastic spiral project and coloring pages
