Lasting Legacy: A Collection for Kalamazoo

September 6, 2014 - January 4, 2015

Celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2014-15, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is among the finest regional art museums in this country, recognized for its active community-based art school, engaging educational programs, high-quality exhibitions, and a stellar art collection. The collection–strong in American painting and sculpture, works on paper from Europe and America, ceramics, and photography with small, but impressive holdings in non-Western art–enriches our community. Over 100 highlights from the collection, including works by Rembrandt, Hiram Powers, William Merritt Chase, Mary Cassatt, Robert Mapplethorpe, Jacob Lawrence, Charles Burchfield, and J. J. Audubon, are featured.
