Drawn to the Figure: Sigmund Abeles

July 2, 2011 - August 27, 2011

The expressive and psychological aspects of the figure, human and animal, have long intrigued nationally recognized artist Sigmund Abeles. The artist believes that mastery of drawing–from life as well as memory and imagination–is necessary to create convincing visual expressions of what he observes, senses, and dreams. After a long university teaching career, he now works full-time in his NYC and upstate New York studios. Abeles’ work can be found in the collections of major American museums.
