Artistic expression blossoms as students are introduced to a new medium in each course! Your child’s artistic expression will blossom and grow in the multi-dimensional class. Students will be introduced to new media each session such as clay, paint and printmaking.

Learn more about the fiber arts! In this hands-on class, students will explore various fiber arts and learn basic skills and techniques to create their own projects. The class will explore several different arts including weaving, dyeing, knitting, needle felting, and more.

Create pieces through a variety of techniques on the wheel! Students will create vessels on the potter’s wheel guided by demonstration of basic skill and a variety of techniques and hand building. An independent class with one-on-one instruction, developing a personal style will be encouraged.

Develop the art of drawing! While continually building on the concept of seeing as the most important tool for drawing, this class will explore the elements of drawing through a variety of media. Each class will be devoted to a deeper understanding of drawing techniques.

In this black-and-white photography class, students will focus on the art of visual storytelling by learning how to compose still lives of their “favorite things” (e.g. souvenirs/trinkets/figurines/collectables/etc.) and photograph them in a new & interesting way. Students will also shoot, develop, and print black-and-white film photos in the KIA’s traditional darkroom. This course is open to all skill levels. Cameras, film, and all printing materials will be provided.

An independent study oriented class with one-on-one instruction provided with an emphasis on the exploration of visual culture through drawing and painting mediums and subject matter. Students will be encouraged to create artwork that brings out their unique talent and creativity. This class will help students with their own personal vision and many mediums will be covered.
