Create during an evening of art!
The biennial Hands-On event is returning to the Kirk Newman Art School on March 4, from 5-8 p.m. Participants can try their hand at several projects, taking home their own masterpieces at the end of the evening. This event is for all skill levels: current students interested in trying a different medium or technique, creatives who want to try a little bit of everything, and brand-new friends who have never picked up a paint brush before. Get to know the Kirk Newman Art School faculty and studios during this evening of exploration and fun.
Some of the hands-on projects will be:
- fabricate jewelry using metals
- assemble a metal sculpture
- dye an item with indigo
- decorate a ceramic pot with a rake glaze
- spin yard on a wheel
- throw on the pottery wheel
- fuse a glass decoration
- screenprint on a notecard or fabric
- print a photogram
- try your hand at drawing
Each project is between 20-30 minutes and no booking is necessary. A small nominal fee of $1-$25 will be charged for each activity, with most under $10. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
