KIA Centennial Community Day

100 Year Logo

The KIA turns 100 years old on July 2! Join us as we continue to celebrate the KIA’s centennial year. Free general admission throughout July is made possible with the generous support of Jim and Carol Carter, the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, PNC Bank, The Santreece Foundation, and Warner Norcross + LLP.

11:00 am to 5:00 pm: Explore the Museum
Learn more about the KIA’s art collection with a self-guided gallery guide and explore the Meader Fine Arts Library.

10:30 to 11:30 am: Art Detectives
Read-aloud of While You’re Asleep by Emmy Kastner followed by self-directed make & take birthday activities.

11:30 am to 3:00 pm: Silent Family Book Club and Bookmark Making
Families can borrow children’s books from the Meader Fine Arts Library to read together around the museum. Books borrowed by non-KIA members for Silent Book Club MUST be returned by 3:00pm on July 13.

11:45 am to 12:15 pm: Wellspring Dance
Come MOVE with us!

12:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Free Ice Cream and Tacos
Enjoy free ice cream from Red Tricycle Ice Cream Company and tacos from Teresa’s Kitchen Food Truck. (while supplies last)

1:00 pm to 3:00 pm: Free Portrait Drawings

2:30 pm to 3:45 pm: Live Music
Jazz in the commons with Josiah DeNooyer.

11:30 am to 4:00 pm: Activities
Sign a community birthday card for the KIA
Make & take birthday hats and commemorative 100th anniversary glasses
Family scavenger hunt in the galleries
Yard games and sidewalk chalk in the courtyard
Share your favorite KIA memory and dream for the next 100 years
