Celebrate Juneteenth with the KIA! This meaningful holiday celebrates the day that enslaved people in Texas finally received freedom 2 years after President Lincoln’s address of the Emancipation Proclamation. For youth and families, Tar Beach by Faith Ringold will be playing in the auditorium with an activity to create your own story frame, and there will be story time in the library throughout the day. For all ages, join us to create a community paper quilt in the lobby and engage with our docents during tours on African American artists in the KIA’s permanent collection.
Art Detectives will happen during the Community Celebration.
