Gilmore Festival Fellows Lecture

May 2 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

The Long Road Home: A Pianist’s American Journey

Lara Downes guides us through her professional trajectory as a classical American pianist. Learn how she defines her career, chooses her repertoire, and keeps her work mission-focused. Ms Downes is a trailblazing performer, Billboard Chart-topping recording artist, and sought-after producer, curator, activist, and arts advocate. She is also the creator and curator of Rising Sun Music, a recording series that sheds light on the music and stories of Black composers, and is the host of AMPLIFY with Lara Downes, a video series from NPR Music that engages visionary Black musicians and artists in discussions about important contemporary topics. This lecture will be interactive.

Enjoy FREE gallery admission before the event from 3-4pm. This is an exclusive opportunity to enjoy the art on view during usually closed hours.
