Día de los Reyes: Cultural Traditions in Mexico and Beyond

January 9, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Día de los Reyes (Three Kings’ Day), also known as the Feast of the Epiphany, is observed in many different ways around the world on January 6th. The holiday holds both religious and cultural significance, as families and communities come together to honor the Biblical story of the three wise men, celebrated in visual art since at least the second century CE. During this ARTbreak, we will take a closer look at the special significance this holiday has taken on in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries.

Born in Mexico City and raised in Michoacan, Mexico, speaker Irving D. Quintero Gervacion moved to Kalamazoo and earned a BFA from the Gwen Frostic School of Arts at Western University in 2019. Now serving as the Associate Director of El Concilio, he is passionate about helping his community thrive.
