During this ARTbreak, Brent Harris will join us to lead a conversation about human relationships with death and grief through the lenses of art and creativity. Harris is a multidisciplinary artist with a passion for nature and storytelling. These elements guide his current body of work, which seeks out narrative connections within the world around and inside us all.
Harris is head of the Sculpture Department in the Kirk Newman Art School. A founding member of the organization Daylight and Darkness, he is active in the
positive death movement in Kalamazoo and is looking forward to achieving his death doula certification in the fall. Harris also works in public schools teaching Aesthetic Education, and in the summer he teaches metal casting at Ox-Bow School of Art.
