Rescheduled from September! The exhibition Legendary Voices: Art for the Next Century invites visitors to view much-loved pieces from the KIA’s collection in fresh ways, often drawing unexpected connections between very different works of art. In keeping with this concept, educational programming throughout the run of the exhibition will offer guests opportunities to engage with the visual arts through other artistic media.
In this workshop, led by celebrated local poet, visual artist, and educator Denise Miller, participants will explore different approaches to the process of writing poems inspired by works of visual art. They will then select pieces from the Legendary exhibition and formulate poetic responses, with the option to share their work with the group in a gallery walkthrough. No prior experience with poetic writing is required, and beginners are very welcome!

Preregistration is encouraged. Find out why.
In the event that a program is modified, postponed, or cancelled, we reach out via email to all who have preregistered. If a significant change is made on short notice, your preregistration helps to ensure that you get the word from us in the most timely manner possible.
Registering for programs in advance also helps our staff to assess set-up needs beforehand, reducing the need for last-minute adjustments to numbers of chairs, tables, etc. Further, it streamlines the check-in process when you arrive and allows us to keep you in the loop about other upcoming programs that might be of interest!
