Please note: ArtBreaks are moving to Wednesdays in 2025.
During this ArtBreak, artists Mary Hatch and Elizabeth Kerlikowske will join us to discuss their latest collaboration. Falling Women, the duo’s third co-authored publication, features paintings by Hatch and ekphrastic poetry by Kerlikowske. Guests will hear a sampling of Kerlikowske’s poems while viewing images of the paintings that inspired them. Reflections from the artists will follow.
Mary Hatch is a painter and printmaker who works with the human figure. She was educated at Kingswood School Cranbrook, Skidmore College, and Western Michigan University. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the US, Canada, and Europe and is included in numerous private and public collections. Elizabeth Kerlikowske received the Community Medal for the Arts in 2017. She’s the author of numerous books and chapbooks and is the past president of Friends of Poetry and the Poetry Society of Michigan.
All hybrid events will be livestreamed to our YouTube page and can be found under the “Live” tab. Recordings of select past events are available on YouTube as well. No registration is necessary in order to join in virtually.
Preregistration is encouraged. Find out why.
In the event that a program is modified, postponed, or cancelled, we reach out via email to all who have preregistered. If a significant change is made on short notice, your preregistration helps to ensure that you get the word from us in the most timely manner possible.
Registering for programs in advance also helps our staff to assess set-up needs beforehand, reducing the need for last-minute adjustments to numbers of chairs, tables, etc. Further, it streamlines the check-in process when you arrive and allows us to keep you in the loop about other upcoming programs that might be of interest!
