Kalamazoo holds the unique distinction of being home to one of the nation’s longest-standing, small professional modern dance companies. Celebrating its 44th year in 2025, Wellspring/Cori Terry & Dancers hail from a distinct lineage of pioneer modern dance companies. Since its founding in 1981, the organization has introduced thousands to the art of dance, enriched the Kalamazoo arts community through collaborations with professional artists, and become a platform for advancing modern dance choreography.
During the KIA’s second annual Movement in the Museum collaboration with Wellspring, company members will draw inspiration from the exhibition Legendary Voices: Art for the Next Century and present an improvised interpretive response, translating visual art into movement.
Please be advised that this event will take place in the museum galleries, and guests will follow the dancers as they perform. Gallery stools will be available.
Preregistration is encouraged. Find out why.
In the event that a program is modified, postponed, or cancelled, we reach out via email to all who have preregistered. If a significant change is made on short notice, your preregistration helps to ensure that you get the word from us in the most timely manner possible.
Registering for programs in advance also helps our staff to assess set-up needs beforehand, reducing the need for last-minute adjustments to numbers of chairs, tables, etc. Further, it streamlines the check-in process when you arrive and allows us to keep you in the loop about other upcoming programs that might be of interest!
