In developing the Joy Light Gallery of Asian Art, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts has been fortunate to receive several gifts of Asian art to its collection. Among them is a fine collection of late 19th- and 20th-century Chinese paintings–landscapes, calligraphies, and bird and flower paintings. The scrolls and fans featured in the exhibition are the gift of Dr. Albert Chang (retired from the Upjohn Company) in memory of his wife, Betty Chang, who served in the administration of the Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Most of the works were collected by Dr. Chang’s late father, Tse-kai Chang (1900-1983).
